Being Thankful

Two years ago I was working for a hospital. They opted to cut out all outpatient therapy for children. At the time I felt extremely un-thankful. But as they say, when one door closes, you may need to climb through a window. Looking through that window lead us to a pandemic. Sure, I was grateful to have avoided front line work in that hospital but what now? I made it through 2020 but 2021 was looking to be a sequel.

Enter the creation of a website and Playtime Pediatric PT. I spent a lot of time on the internet while the world was closed and I'll be the first to admit creating a website and blog were not an original idea. I watched many therapists and my own brother who was writing and decided I would jump into the pool.

I'm so grateful that I did. Being a PT has been a labor of love. Being my own boss has decreased the labor part and increased the love exponentially. In the last 2 years I have met so many wonderful families. You have welcomed me into your homes. Your children make me smile. You all work so hard to give them the best you can. I am so happy to be a small part of your lives.

I heard this statement yesterday ... "People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care." I learned this years ago working at another hospital where patient surveys were a big deal. Patients cared more about the feeling they got during their treatment than the actual treatment itself. I want to let you all know that it means a lot to me that you feel you are respected when I work with you. It's been a great year for me professionally and it's all because of the families I've met. Happy Thanksgiving and have a wonderful holiday season. Can't wait to see how 2022 turns out.
